Tell us about what you do.
I make structural fiber art vessels from cotton rope. On top of my own business, I am also a second-year college student studying environmental and biological sciences.
What’s your favorite thing about your creative process?
My favorite thing about my creative process would have to be that I never know exactly how a piece will turn out until its almost completely done. Each piece takes its own course sometimes, but they always turn out beautiful. I love specializing in one-of-a-kind art.
How do you prepare your business for holiday season?
I have been working on building my inventory of products that will be great gifts, such as smaller baskets, trivets, and my handbags have become increasingly popular.
Do you have any other projects that you are excited about aside from your primary medium?
I have been working a lot with dyes which is really exciting for my shop. Dyed products such as black bags will be on the shop soon!
What has been the best advice you have received in regard to running a creative business?
Someone once told me that there will be people who don’t really get what you’re doing and that’s okay, but there will people who really get what you’re doing and are all in—those are the people you want business from. Focus on the people who respect what you’re doing.
